The original title of this book was The Safari Adventure Company. When I decided to create the sequel I made it Volume 1 of The Safari Chronicles.
The main character Jim is in deep doo doo on the first page of the book, facing trouble at work, at home, and unbeknownst to him, in his soul.
Unfairly fired from the job that had become his safety blanket, he goes home for comfort and gets doubly rejected from his wife and kids whom he’s invested less and less in over time.
<h3>The Safari Adventure Company</h3>
Jim investigates a flyer for an African safari, and meets the very unusual Benjamin at The Safari Adventure Company, a company founded in the 1800′s to combine adventure and personal development. Scared to go and scared to leave home, he’s in a fix.
The 3 Treasures – 1895
Benjamin gives him a little antique book titled The 3 Treasures, written in 1895 and begins to read it. The timeless, life changing message in it’s compact verse and proper English style, pokes at his problems and triggers his inner voice, pulling him deeper into questions he’s avoided for a long time.
<h3>Africa</h3>
Of course he goes to Africa! Jim meets eccentric characters from different countries and cultures, amazing senior members of The Safari Adventure Company from past days, and finds out lions, tigers, and bears (think Wizard of Oz) all live on different continents.
He also meets Weinberg, and finds at last the mentor who brings The 3 Treasures to life for him and activates his inner journey.
Death and Danger!
Don’t be fooled by the yippie-skippy personal development message in the book, this is a full blown Indiana Jones fiction novel with bloodthirsty evil poachers who will stop at nothing to protect their turf, and as in any good adventure, everything goes terribly wrong for Jim, and he’ll have to face his greatest fears to become the man inside.
